Flight delays and cancellations: what the European data shows

There's no publicly available official statistic on flight delays and cancellations from Chisinau airport specifically — we checked airport.md's own statistics page directly, and it only publishes passenger traffic, aircraft movement, and cargo figures, not punctuality. So below is network-wide European data from Eurocontrol (the pan-European air traffic management regulator), which gives a general picture rather than an exact figure for Chisinau specifically.

Per the Eurocontrol European Aviation Overview, in mid-May 2026 (week 21) network-wide arrival punctuality stood at 81.1%, and departure punctuality at 75.8%; in June 2026 arrival punctuality was around 76%. Average air traffic management delay per flight is about 1.6 minutes (mostly from en-route delays rather than at the airport itself).

2026 figures are notably better than 2025 — the network as a whole improved punctuality, and en-route delays fell. These are network-wide figures for all of Europe, not a ranking of the specific airlines flying from Chisinau — we couldn't find that level of public detail, and we're not inventing it.

Per general network patterns (not Chisinau-specific figures), the most delays build up during peak summer traffic months and during severe storm fronts in Western and Southern Europe, plus during air-traffic-control or ground-staff strikes in individual countries.
